im on a mac, put the unaltered key in mac hd > library > audio > plugins > components, and still no dice. now what?

Make sure that the filename is exactly

47225-ROCK.key

NOT

47225-ROCK.key.txt

It seems that a lot of Mac email systems are renaming the attachment, either at the server, or when you try to save the attachment.

Just rename the file to the right name, that should do it.
