LOVE The Rocket. Crashing Ableton though

The Rocket is one of…if not… my favorite comp plug in. Use it on everything. Today out of the blue it begin crashing in ableton 8.1.1,

I have done all the typicals. Erase Preferences. Repair Disk Permissions. Downloaded lasted beta. Tried new file. Tried different machine running same version. Same thing.

Here is the skinny. Running Mac 10.5.8. Ableton Live 8.1.1. Latest beta of Rocket AU. (VST DOES SAME THING) Here is the crash log. Any help would be grand!

Checking it out…but I’ve been reading un-good things about the 8.1x releases of Live.

If it crashes VST, it would be useful to see that crash report, too, because it’s simply not possible for a VST to be crashing in IPlugAU…it doesn’t exist in those plugs.

I can duplicate the problem…it didn’t happen on Live 8.0.3, though. I’ll try to debug this thing into submission. I’ve sent mail to Ableton asking for mutual assistance.

Thanks Scott, I too have no problem in 8.0.3, just 8.1.1. Problem is ableton changed the file system in 8.1 so I can’t really go back right now. Good news is the VST seems to be working now? I can’t get it to crash. (yea!) The AU is intermittent. Sometimes it works. Most of the time it just takes it down. Your attention to detail is amazing though! thank you for being so quick and thorough.

Okay, I think I may have a workaround for this, but it definitely appears to be something that’s wrong in Live’s code…they’re sending nonsense parameters to some internal AU function calls, and we’re having to trap for invalid values that we didn’t have to capture before. Our bad for not safety checking the parameters, their bad for sending garbage.

I’ll have updated builds made shortly and I’ll post again when they’re ready for download.

Didn’t work. The Rocket VST works in Live 8.1.1 though.
