What CPU does your current DAW machine run on?

  • Pentium II

If you’ve noticed, schwa has made an executive decision to make his plugins optimized for P4/Athlon64 and higher. He gets a huge performance boost (nearly 2X) due to the intense graphic redraws of his plugs. That doesn’t mean that their aren’t performance gains to be had in DSP processing, though…

So, in thinking about optimizations, it makes sense to know what your customer base is doing. What processors are you guys using? If you’re all on Athlon XPs (which don’t support SSE2), then it doesn’t make any sense to go beyond what I’ve already done. If you’re all running big ol’ quad-core processors and Athlon64 X2s, then maybe I should bite the bullet and follow schwa.

AMD Sempron, it’s not on that list… Hehe. I know it’s not a DAW-prosessor, but it’s mine…
